Like last time, I'm starting with the pokemon released since my last post.
Braixen: Eeewwwww.... Due to this, I no longer plan to choose Fenniken. From what I can tell, at least it won't be another fire/fighting starter, speculation is that it will be either fire/psychic or fire/fairy. Still waiting to see what the final form will be like.
Quiladin: Ehh... Remember how I said that Chespin might get a cool evolution? It doesn't look that way right now. Rumor is it might end up grass/steel, which could be pretty cool. Just gotta wait and see the final form.
Frogadier: Wow, Froakie went from being my least favorite to my most favorite design really quickly with these evolutions released. Speculation is that his final form will be water/fighting. I look forward to their final forms.
Bunnelby: Its just a bunny. That's all I can really say about it. Its a normal type too.
Dedenne: Raichu and Hamtaro had a baby? I don't know about this.... I mean, every generation had their Pikachu knock-offs, but this one literally looks way to similar to Raichu. Its cute and all but I still don't like just how similar it is. It's obviously an electric type.
Furfrou: A normal type poodle/dog thing that you can change its appearance by grooming it. That's a cool mechanic and all, but the pokemon itself still looks weird and I doubt it'll be very useful.
Honedge: Pretty awesome ghost/steel type. Its a floating sword, which is pretty awesome. Might just use this one in my team.
Skiddo: Gogoat's pre-evolution. Its a cute little grass type goat, but it doesn't evolve into anything particularly cool so I probably won't use it.
Pangoro: Pancham's evolution looks surprisingly cool, but as a Fighting/Dark type he is gonna have quite a few weaknesses, but the dark type does make him immune to psychic types.
Pyroar: Freaking beastly looking. The evolution of Litleo didn't disappoint. Though normal/fire is an odd typing the pokemon looks really cool and the different male and female forms both look really cool. Ima get me one.
Orotto: A mysterious new tree-like pokemon. Not much is known about it from what I found. No typing for sure yet but it looks like a grass/dark to me. Idk if I'll get one.
Swirlix: Its a cute little blob of fairy type hellspawn.... that's it. Oh, its also a Pokemon X exclusive.
Spritzee: Another pink demon hiding behind cuteness.... It is the Pokemon Y exclusive fairy.
Meowstic: An adorable little psychic type pokemon that differs between male and female in both appearance and movesets. The male is blue and more support based. While the female is white and more attack based.
Ikay and Malamar: A little squid pokemon and its evolution. They are dark/psychic types. Inkay is adorable and Malamar is cool enough to make the cut of being on my team. Mine will be named Viras as tribute to a japanese kaiju that strongly resembles Malamar.
Amaura and Aurorus: One of the new fossil pokemon. This cute little longneck and its frilly evolution are rock/ice types revived from the sail fossil. It's cool enough, but the other one totally stole the show...
Tyrunt and Tyrantrum: The other fossil pokemon and it's evolution! A rock/dragon tyrannosaurus pokemon! Yes! Tyrunt is adorable and Tyrantrum looks badass! It is a must have to me!
The next topic, Mega Evolution.
Thetopic of Mega Evolution is kind of an odd one. i'm not sure how to feel about it. In some aspects its cool, while in some it is just strange and makes me think Digimon. Mega Evolution is done through use of specific megastones on specific pokemon and only lasts the duration of a battle. Certain pokemon also change type or new abilities when mega evolved. Its a pretty cool idea and I look forward to how it is implemented. So now, I guess I'll just give my take on the Mega Pokemon announced so far.
Mega Venusaur: I think he really drew the short stick for mega evolving. What? All he gets is a flower on his head and a taller back plant? Not to mention he gets no type change. He does however get the ability Thick Fat which reduces the damage of fire and ice moves to him, which is nice.
Mega Charizard: Awesome! Just awesome looking! Unfortunately, aside from appearances he isn't that different. His ability Drought powers up fire attacks, but he still stays fire/flying. Sorry Charizard, you still don't get to be a dragon.
Mega Blastoise: Also pretty cool looking. His ability Mega launcher increases the power of pulse moves, the only two applicable being Water Pulse and Dark Pulse. Still pretty cool.
Mega Kangaskhan: What? Just...huh? Mega Kangaskhan is not the adult, but the baby! No joke! The baby comes out of the pouch and joins the battle itself. Weird concept, but the ability Parental Bond is pretty cool, allowing Mega Kangaskhan to attack twice each turn.
Mega Mewtwo Y: Okay, so the alternate form of Mewtwo from my last post on this is officially Mega Mewtwo Y, exclusive to Pokemon Y. I still don't like it. And still won't be using it.
Mega Mewtwo X: The counterpart to the previous one, this is the X exclusive Mega Mewtwo. It looks a little cooler than the other one but not much, regular Mewtwo is cooler than either of them. And I'm not even a real fan of the original Mewtwo. Another weird fact is that Mega Mewtwo X is a psychic/fighting type for some reason. *shrugs* Iunno, I got nothin'.
Mega Ampharos: I'm kind of torn with this one. On one hand, he is cute and cool at the same time like normal Ampharos. His ability also changes to Mold Breaker, which nullifies certain other abilities. On the other hand, where the hell did he wind up being part dragon type? Amphros got to be a dragon before Charizard? What? Why? What is the reasoning for this? When they were deciding this who looked at the electric sheep pokemon and was like "Oh my god! That'd be an awesome dragon!"? I think they left the typing choices in this game to a drug abuser. Oh well, welcome aboard Mega Ampharos. Sorry Charizard, you are clearly not qualified to be a dragon.
Mega Blaziken: It looks a little cooler than normal Blaziken, but that isn't saying much. He gains the ability Speed Boost, which increases his speed at the end of each turn.
Mega Mawile: Looks pretty cool and actually shows the fairy types for the horrible demonic monsters they really are. Mawile is a steel/fairy type now by the way. It gains the ability Huge Power, which has a one in three chance of increasing of boosting a physical attack by 50% upon use. I gotta say, its pretty cool...for a fairy type...
Mega Absol: OMG so cool looking! Wait? Why is it still just a dark type? I clearly see wings on it. It also has the ability Magic Bounce, which reflects status lowering and non-damaging status attacks back at their user.
Mega Garchomp: He doesn't really look that different, but since Garchomp is already beast, that's okay. He's still a dragon/ground type and has the ability Sand Force, which powers up rock ground and steel moves in a sandstorm.
Mega Lucario: He looks a bit cooler than the normal Lucario but not all that different. Still fighting/steel and has the ability Adaptability which increases the boost to same type moves from 1.5x to 2x. Kinda cool I guess.
Next, Character Customization.
I appear to have been wrong stating that this wasn't what i had hoped last time. Character Customization is going to be pretty dang neat as you can change up your character's looks at different places in the game after you've picked your look from the start. I'm glad they are finally doing this.
Up next, riding pokemon.
Well, this hope got shot down. it appears that you can only ride specific pokemon, at specific points in the game, for specific reasons. I'm a little upset by this, but it's not that bad.
Next, PR Video.
You can apparently make a 10 second video of your trainer and pokemon to make a unique display of your character for others to see. Though not really important, it is still kind of neat.
That's about all there really is to talk about this time. Just a lot of new pokemon, some game mechanic updates, and there were a few updates about the characters in the games, apparently you'll have multiple rivals and the new evil team is called Team Flare, though i have no idea what their goal is. There are a few other characters introduced, but most of them have not been given much info about them. That's really all I can think of right now. Still stoked for X and Y to be released. Just a few weeks left now!
